We drove out towards Death Valley with Bobbi & Armando to locate a geo-cache. We found it - it was under a hard hat that was made to look like a turtle. We left a small figurine & took a Czech geocaching coin.
Then we drove to Ash Meadows. This is a National Wildlife Refuge.
The 23,000 acre wetland has 7 springs, a reservoir, and marshlands.
It was pretty dry there today, but we walked a boardwalk along a stream to Crystal Spring. This spring and stream has pupfish swimming in it. We also saw lizards, some pretty flowers we'd never seen before, & some rabbits.
It was pretty hot walking the boardwalk, but the wildflowers & fish were worth it.
We stopped at Longstreet Casino & Hotel for lunch. This hotel is out in the middle of no-where.
It is between Pahrump & Death Valley. The casino & bar were full of antiques & they had a tv set that was owned by Roy Rogers & Dale Evans, Turned out, this is the same tv we had - neat.
We are going to the Nugget tonight to listen some country/western music ( & of course, do a little slot playing).

We have never been to Ash Meadows. We'll have to go there next time we are in Pahrump. Thanks for showing Bobbi and Armando our blog.
Geo-caching is alot of fun. I can't believe a Casino there in the middle of nowhere. Great pictures too.
My nieces "loved" geo-caching in Colorado last Summer too.
Still in Casa Grande, we are thinking of going home to the Mountains and then to Abilene in the car ~ the baby is not here yet, though she has turned and dropped..... we're sure as soon as we turn into our driveway in Colorado the call will come that she has arrived......
