We are spending a month here with our friends, Bobbie & Armando. Haven't been doing much, Bobbie & Armando are busy hiring workers to work on their daughter's house.
Today, Gerri & John Beckman, from Casa Grande came up from Newprot, WA. The six of us went to lunch at the casino & then out to the park to chat.
It is warming up here. Supposed to be in the 90's this weekend.

Larry & Judy's cows in the pasture
Larry & John watching the cows drinking from the spring
Their cows coming towards us to get a treat
One of the cows checking us out
Waiting for a turn to drink
Looking out across from the top of the pasture
The cows eating their treats
This is a funky house that John named the 'Oscar Meyer Weiner' house
A full view of the Oscar Meyer Weiner House
This is the crane that moves the logs around the yard
Here it is with a load of logs
A closer look
A huge pile of sawdust
The results of a forest fire
How the landscape has changed since the fire
We have spent the last week in Republic, WA, with Murphy & Gail. We also visited with Larry & Judy Peterson- winter residents in Casa Grande. Larry & Judy are from Republic & help with Judy's mom's farm when they are here. We got a tour of it one day & to us city folk, it was very interesting. They have 900 acres, with 25 cows & 2 horses. They also plant & harvest hay for their cows to eat during the winter.
The drive to republic was one of the prettiest we've driven. We had to go over the Cascades, & we followed the Skagit River along most of the trip. As you can see from our pictures (that finally uploaded) there was plenty of snow, even though it was the end of June.
We spent 2 nights in Concrete, WA. Our Buckeye got sick, & we had to take her to a vet. She had a slight pancreatic attack. Her pancreas is now very susceptible to grease & if she gets some, her pancreas can't handle it. So, she's fine now & we just have to watch that she doesn't eat what she shouldn't.
It was good to see Murphy & Gail. We always enjoy being with them. They were in a really nice park & the owners even served us banana splits on the 4th. We took one day & drove to Colville, Wa. There is a sawmill there. It has this huge machine that carries logs back & forth & around the yard. That is what the picture is. It was really wild watching it work.
We left them on Wednesday & traveled east, south & then north to Bonners Ferry, Idaho.
We came here to visit with Bobbi & Armando. We will not see them for a while after this visit, because they will not be in Casa Grande this winter.
